How we screen Vendors

These lists are intended to provide an overview of the Configure-Price-Quote (CPQ) software suite vendors in this market. The market is typically divided into large enterprise application suite vendors that  include CPQ software and best-of-breed specialist vendors. We will focus latter, as they may be implemented without requirements on other software implemented.

The size of CPQ software market is still modest. It is generally estimated that the market size is approximately $200-250 million, with a growth of approximately 20% per year. This modest market is divided into a larger number of commercial suppliers with no clear market leader.

We have separated the list of suppliers are separated into three types; key vendors, other vendors and large enterprise application suite vendors:

To be included in this list the vendors need to:

  1. Offer a configuration application that is sold as a distinct product
  2. Have a proven track record of delivering production systems to multiple clients
  3. Generally be recognized as one of the leaders in the market
  4. Have at least 50 employees
  5. Have at least three name brand clients
  6. Be invited by the large customers during vendor selections
  7. Have a presence in multiple vertical industries

Most of the vendors on the list have promising or positive rating in the Gartner report ‘MarketScope for Configuration, Price, Quote Application Suites, 2011’.

To be included in this list the vendors need to:

  1. Offer a configuration application that is sold as a distinct product
  2. Generally be recognized as one of the important vendors in the market
  3. Have at least 20 employees
  4. Have at least one name brand clients
  5. Sometimes be invited by large customers during vendors selections

To be included in this list the vendors need to:

  1. Offer sales configuration functionality within their product suite
  2. Generally be recognized as one of the leaders in their market (typically ERP)
